CULTURE

For many the office plays an important role within our social lives providing a space for building and maintaining social relations and establishing a sense of community. The discussion centers around concerns over the long term social impact of remote working and its subsequent influence upon productivity, office culture, innovation and connection. In addition, many highlight the difficulties of maintaining social capital, integrating new employees, encouraging learning and reducing social isolation.

The discussion highlights significant concern from both leadership and employees about the future of office culture, company identity and branding, with executives valuing it as highly as productivity. Many believe the future physical office may become more centered around establishing these characteristics, attracting both employees and clients and offering a sense of belonging and connection.

The importance of social events, collaborative work and office culture cannot be easily replaced through virtual technology, meaning many employees are missing the physical human interactions normally provided through the office. How may the future office adapt to facilitate these interactions within a post-pandemic context?
